Worker Killed on Eads Bridge
Eads Bridge in St. Louis was the site of an accident involving a tugboat on Thursday afternoon. The tugboat collided with the bridge causing the death of the man working in that area. That man was an employee of the Pevely, Missouri company called Thomas Industrial Coatings and was sandblasting an area on the bridge where the tugboat struck causing the man to fall to his death. Commuter traffic and Metro link operations were halted until the bridge could be fully inspected to ensure safety. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration is investigating the accident and stated that Thomas Industrial Coatings has been cited in several deaths of other employees. All of those workplace fatalities occurred in 2006 when three separate individuals were killed. Falls from scaffoldings were the causes of death for all three incidents back in 2006. Work-related accidents cause thousands of fatalities each year in the United States. Losing a loved one is tragic and is especially devastating when the death occurs in a preventable accident. An investigation into the accident can determine if you have grounds to file a wrongful death claim. While focusing on the grief of losing a loved one no one wants to worry about the financial strain that may occur. Medical bills, funeral expenses, and loss of income can leave families struggling to make ends meet. Fortunately, with a proper investigation and representation by an experienced wrongful death attorney you can recover compensation for your loss.
