Authorities Continue to Investigate Metro-East Car Crash

March 22, 2017
On Wednesday night an auto accident in Columbia, Illinois injured two teenagers. Katherine A. Brinkley, a 26-year-old Waterloo woman, was traveling on Admiral Parkway heading north in her Lexus SUV when she struck a Pontiac G6, which was heading eastbound on Veterans. Brett Luther of Columbia was operating the G6 and was transported to the hospital along with his 17-year-old female passenger. Emergency crews had to extricate the teens from the vehicle, and the female was transported via medical helicopter. Columbia Police did not issue any citations as of Thursday evening and stated that Brinkley did not sustain any injuries in the crash. The Metro East Crash Assistance Team and Columbia Police are continuing to investigate the accident to determine the cause.
