An auto accident claimed the life of a Murphysboro, Illinois resident on Friday afternoon. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department responded to the traffic crash at approximately 3:17 p.m at Highway 127 and Ave Road in Murphysboro. According to authorities, the accident involved a 2015 Ford car driven by East St. Louis resident Rosalind Williams, 42-years-old, and a 2007 Ford car operated by 76-year-old Barbara Morber. The serious accident resulted in Williams sustaining serious injuries, and she was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital. The Jackson County coroner pronounced Morber dead at the scene of the accident. The cause of the accident is currently unknown, and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash.
